KS-LSAMP

The Kansas Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (KS-LSAMP) promotes recruitment and retention programs throughout Kansas in support of increasing the success of underrepresented minority students (URMs) in STEM fields.

KS-LSAMP Scholars

The KS-LSAMP Scholar program aims to help students become more knowledgeable about themselves and what they need to succeed.

During our program students will gain insight by engaging with a community of peers, take responsibility in utilizing campus resources and manage their behaviors through goal setting.

The program provides a $500 stipend for active participation in the program, along with a flexible plan tailored to students’ goals and schedules.

Student Eligibility:

The program expectations:

  • Be available to participate in the program from September 23 - November 15, 2024
  • Meet with an academic coach (3 times)
  • Participation in Canvas course (about 5 hours of content)
  • Attend engagement sessions (total 4 hours)
  • Interact with campus resources (30min - 1 hr each)

What students are saying

In response to the question "What did you gain from your experience in the KS-LSAMP program?" students said:

"I gained new friendships and new campus resources"

"I gained a greater sense of self-awareness. I am far more aware of my strengths and weaknesses now becsaue of KS-LSAMP"

"I was very well reminded of all of the available respources all around campus and the numerous ways that they can benefit you. I heard a lot about them when i first transferred to K State but I quickly forgot about a lot of them because I became very busy with my job and homework and living independently. This program helped me explore the options again and know they are there in the future to use."

"A lot! but mostly a good set of friends with similar interests as me."
