MANHATTAN -- Part-time jobs, volunteer opportunities, free food.
Kansas State University's career and employment services invites new and returning students to start their fall semester with two Week of Welcome events.
At the 10th annual Backyard BBQ, students can meet with their career adviser, activate and update their online student account, and learn about the services and activities offered by career and employment services.
The barbecue is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, on the south lawn of Holtz Hall. The free event includes hot dogs, chips and drinks. Students who activate and update their online CES account will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last. This event is sponsored by ConocoPhillips.
K-State students and members of the community may attend the Part-Time Opportunities Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, in the K-State Student Union Ballroom. The annual fair features a variety of part-time jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities with on-campus and Manhattan area employers.
Students attending the fair should bring copies of their resume and business casual attire is recommended. Student hospitality will be provided by K-State's Powercat Financial Counseling. The fair is sponsored by Varney's, GTM and housing and dining services. It is coordinated by career and employment services.
