Apparel textiles faculty exhibits work, presents research at international conference

Sherry Haar's design, Sunflower Saddened, earned a spot in the juried exhibition at the annual meeting of the International Textile and Apparel Association in New Orleans.  

Students exhibiting their work were E. Monfort-Nelson, H. Sigvaldson and L. Sun.

Apparel textiles faculty, department of apparel textiles and interior design in the College of Human Ecology, presenting at the conference were:

  • K. Y. Hiller Connell on Exploration of the environmentally sustainable apparel purchase decision-making process;
  • Hiller Connell and M. L. A. LeHew on "You are doing what?" Motivations for fashion acquisition abstinence process;
  • LeHew and Hiller Connell on Infusing environmental sustainability into Textile and Apparel curriculum: Professional development needs for a discipline in transition;
  • J. M. Kozar on A reexamination of factors contributing to apparel majors’ stress and abilities to effectively manage their time;
  • Kozar and J. H. Kang on Socially responsible apparel purchasing  intention, knowledge and attitudes: Cross-cultural comparison of U.S. and Korean consumers; and
  • L. Sun and LeHew, a poster session on 70 Years of Fashion in the Chinese Dress: Exploring Sociocultural Influences on Chinese Qipao's Hemline Height and Waistline Fit in 1920s-1980s.

Graduate student Sarah Al-Zahrani presented Saudi Female Entrepreneurs: Business Motivations and Commitment to Solving Women's Social Issues. It earned second place on the master's level for best student paper.
