Donna Crawshaw retirement celebration on Jan. 9, 2014
Donna Crawshaw is retiring after 41 years of service to Kansas State University, and the College of Arts and Sciences has extended an invitation across campus to join us for her retirement party.
The celebration is 3-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in the Sunflower Room at the K-State Student Union.

After receiving her degree in business administration from K-State in 1972, she was offered a job in the dean’s office of the College of Arts and Sciences as a clerk I in the college's copy center. She has been with the dean’s office for all of her 41 years of service, but has performed various duties and has had numerous job titles and promotions. Currently she is an accountant I and manages the college's Instructional Support Center and does budget work for the dean’s office.
Crawshaw was cited as a workhorse in her most recent evaluation. She credits this to her father.
“He always told me and my brothers ‘a job worth doing was worth doing well,’ and that any job assigned to us should always be given 100 percent of our effort,” she said. “Thinking back on his philosophy, he was probably promoting this theory because he was the one doing the assigning to a bunch of kids out on the farm. There was always plenty of work to be done between farming, livestock and a huge garden — but a good, strong work ethic was definitely established from it. As I look around at the world we live in today, I think a lot more people could have benefited from this type of upbringing.”
After her long service to the university, Crawshaw has decided to retire and begin a new chapter in her life. She is excited to spend time doing more of the things she loves, including traveling, doing arts and crafts, playing cards and games, spending quality time with her family and friends, and enjoying more of her latest hobby, which is riding her CanAm Spider.
