New Faculty Institute luncheon March 7 features teaching and technology

Submitted by Esther Swilley

The Teaching and Learning Center invites all new faculty to the New Faculty Institute luncheon on Friday, March 7. Our lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Hemisphere Room at Hale Library.

Our theme, Teaching and Technology, will be highlighted by our speakers: Greg Eiselein, professor of English and university distinguished teaching scholar, and Roger McHaney, Daniel D. Burke Chair for exceptional faculty, university distinguished teaching scholar and professor of management information systems. This luncheon provides new, and fairly new, faculty the opportunity to learn more about what it takes to have a great future here at K-State.

The New Faculty Institute is a universitywide program to introduce newly hired faculty to our missions of teaching, research and service, and to facilitate their success at K-State. The institute offers information, networking, training and peer mentoring and facilitates the transition of newly-hired faculty members into the K-State academic environment by providing information and tools that can help them become successful as educators and researchers at Kansas State University. Each month the institute offers social luncheons filled with information, socializing and food. The institute is open to all faculty starting in 2012 and 2013.

For more information, contact Esther Swilley, New Faculty Institute coordinator, at esthers@k-state.edu, or Jana Fallin, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, at 785-532-7828.

Please RSVP by Tuesday, March 4.

We look forward to seeing you!
