Letter to the university from President Schulz: Update on institutional equity search

Submitted by Kirk Schulz

Dear Faculty and Staff,

K-State is developing efficient, effective and integrated processes and services for the university’s most valuable asset — you, our faculty and staff.

I want to keep you up to date on this important endeavor, K-State’s human capital services initiative. We are postponing the search for a director of institutional equity, the new name for our Office of Affirmative Action.

There is a very good reason for this. The director of institutional equity will report to the vice president for human capital. It is prudent to wait until this vice president is named. The vice president for human capital will have a stake in the man or woman who will lead our office for institutional equity.

I send a sincere "thank you" for the tireless work of our institutional equity search committee:

  • David Griffin, co-chair
  • Mary Tolar, co-chair
  • Michelle Bowen
  • Mirta Chavez
  • Ruth Dyer
  • Marcus Bragg
  • Rebecca Gould
  • John Hanes
  • Larry McGee
  • Heather Reed
  • Gurdip Singh
  • Cheryl Strecker
  • Donald Stubbings

I believe that by hiring our human capital leaders in this order, K-State will go farther in meeting our evolving human capital needs and achieving our goals for K-State 2025. We will ensure the continued recruitment, retention and development of a diverse and highly skilled workforce.

Regards,

Kirk
