Upcoming learning and development trainings for April

Learning and development is announcing two new training opportunities.

Anti-Discrimination Training (WTD169)will be presented by Ameerah McBride, investigator/deputy Title IX coordinator of affirmative action, from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 17, in Room 226 of the K-State Student Union. The purpose of the session is to increase awareness of issues related to discrimination and to inform participants of the university policy regarding harassment, sexual harassment and sexual violence. Topics covered will include:

  • Kansas State University's policy prohibiting discrimination, harassment and sexual violence;
  • Behaviors that may constitute discrimination;
  • Guidelines for ways to reduce risk of sexual violence;
  • Bystander intervention; and
  • Resources available to the campus community.

Supervisors are urged to enroll new employees who may not be familiar with K-State's policy, including those who have transferred from other state agencies.

Americans with Disabilities (WTD076) will be presented by Michelle White-Godinet, assistant director of affirmative action, from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, in Room 226 of the K-State Student Union. This training will provide an overview and update of the Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008, or ADAAA. Participants will learn the purpose of the acts, who is protected, who is not protected, employer responsibilities, employee responsibilities and covered employment practices.
