Freedom Alliance and the Women's Center are hosting a supply drive for Wichita Children's Home through April 11. There are six collection boxes across campus: in the K-State Student Union lobby near the Copy Center, in the Leadership Studies Building lobby, in the Derby, Kramer and Zan Vile dining halls and in the KSU Wesley Building.

All donated items will be taken to the Wichita Children's Home for their Street Outreach Services program.  Since 39 percent of homeless are youth and one in three homeless youth are approached by a trafficker in the first 48 hours of being on the street, we want to help youth in Kansas from being exploited by aiding Wichita Children's Home.

Below is the list of items that the Street Outreach Services program needs:

Chef Boyardee microwave bowls
Mac and cheese microwave bowls
Ramen noodles in a cup
Individual packs of nuts
Individual peanut butters
Crackers and cheese
Granola Bars
Fruit cups
100 percent juice boxes
Small baby wipes packages that close
Travel size shampoos and conditioners
Body wash, lotions, etc.
African American hair care
Deodorants
Socks, long and ankle; preferably black
Men's boxers, esp. sizes medium and large
Women's underwear, cotton bikini sizes 5-8
Gently used men's athletic/tennis shoes
Gently used women's athletic/tennis shoes
Draw string bags or handled bags
Gently used backpacks preferably dark and plain

The Street Outreach Services program at Wichita Children's Home is a program where volunteers go directly on the streets to give necessity items to the homeless, as well as inform them of the Wichita Children's Home as a source of shelter and aid. They also have "safe zones" around Wichita where the employees will call Wichita Children's Home if they see any youth being exploited.
