K-State students to perform at National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy

Submitted by Kurt Gartner

EKW Percussion Trio

The K-State Percussion Studio will be represented on a student recital at the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy. The conference will be May 18-20 at the University of Oklahoma.

The K-State student performers are the EKW Percussion Trio: Brett Eichman, senior, music education, Dodge City; Joe Kulick, senior, music education, Oswego, Illinois; Ethan Wagoner, senior, music education, McPherson. The trio will perform the marimba trio "Sculpture 3" by Rudiger Pawassar.

The National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy is designed to provide a forum for elementary and secondary music educators, university percussion pedagogues, professional percussionists, university music education specialists and undergraduate and graduate students. It will allow percussionists to explore the status of percussion pedagogy in the U.S. and to outline strategies for improving the teaching and learning of percussion instruments.
