Two is better than one: Second session of spring Evening College courses begins March 8

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

With the second round of accelerated eight-week Evening College courses starting March 8, students at Kansas State University have the chance to complete another class before the end of spring term.

Evening College classes take place from 5:30-10:30 p.m. on campus and are designed to help students earn a degree, fulfill personal goals or enhance their career opportunities without interrupting their daytime schedules.

Eight-week course options are in demand among adult learners and also are optimal for students seeking a strengthened resume through Evening College courses in areas like communication and business.

Trina McCarty, Evening College coordinator, said the program enhances both a student's professional readiness and the convenience of obtaining college credit, an important combination for adults with full-time jobs or obligations outside of school.

"We try to offer all the classes necessary for a student to advance in his or her career or pursue a degree," McCarty said. "With Evening College, the students can work during the regular work day and still attend the classes they want to take."

The second eight-week spring session offers courses that help students earn an interdisciplinary bachelor's degree in social sciences, making it possible to obtain the degree without ever taking a class during daytime hours. Classes include public speaking, computer information systems courses, macro- and microeconomics, upper-level sociology and psychology courses, and more.
