Gamez to serve on national technology committee

Submitted by Robert Gamez

Robert Gamez, senior associate director of Kansas State University’s office of student financial assistance, has been invited to serve on the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators', or NASFAA, 2013-2014 technology initiatives committee.

The association's membership consists of more than 18,000 student financial aid professionals representing approximately 3,000 institutions of higher education and serving more than 16 million students.

Members of this committee will be tasked with various technological goals and objectives as outlined by the association’s strategic long-range plan, articulated by its national board of directors. Some of the goals include: discussions and discovery of student financial aid award comparison applications, serving as the association's test group for its 2014 conference mobile application, outlining the organization's expectations of current and future financial aid management systems, or FAMS, and updating the organization's publication on best practices for higher education institutions in selecting a management system.

Gamez also is currently a member of the association’s reauthorization task force and joined K-State's office of student financial assistance after completing a Master of Science degree at Iowa State University in professional studies in education in 1995.
