Academic Warning Support

Being placed on academic warning can be a scary feeling but the Academic Achievement Center is here to help you through it.

Academic warning is an academic standing placed on student records at the end of each semester. If you see this standing with your semester grades, it means that you are below the GPA required to stay in good academic standing for the future semesters. Many students have had an academic warning assigned, and have been able to move forward successfully with a little help.

Here are a few basic strategies a student can use to help themselves off warning.

  • Clean your transcript

Consider retaking a course you got a D or F in as a way to increase your GPA and get off warning. A "C" or higher grade will substitute your previous substandard grade. If you have to drop a class, drop before the "W" deadline, usually the fourth week for 16-week courses.

  • Evaulate committments

Reduce your committments to clubs, outside activities, etc. can give you more time focus on each course, especially if you have work or family obligations. Remember, you can't be apart of clubs and other unviersity acitivies if you're not an active student.

  • Utilize all your resources

Kansas State has countless resources to utilize to help you succeed -- academically, personally, physically, emotionally, and financial.

  • Get a tutor

The AAC has Content Tutors available in over 80 different courses and when there's not a content tutor, there's Success Skills Tutors.

  • Meet with your Academic Coach
