Embedded Tutoring
Embedded tutoring is appointment-style tutoring where the tutor attends and participates in some or all the sessions of the course(s) they are an embedded tutor. By being in the classroom, students get to know their tutor in a neutral environment before attending tutoring. Tutors are also better able to help students because they are more keenly aware of what has happened in the course prior to the tutoring session. Student still sign-up for tutoring like it is an appointment but their introduction and knowledge of their tutor is different than for non-embedded tutoring courses.
This past fall, we saw that students who participated in our embedded tutoring program did better on every test and had a higher final grade than those who did not.
