Design & Development
Based on instructional design strategies and pedagogy, we partner closely with faculty and program administration to create and implement exceptional courses and programs. Based on pedagogy and instructional design best practices, we help faculty (re)design and create engaging learning activities, assessments, and instructional materials for credit and noncredit courses.
Course Review & Recommendations
Upon request, K-State's learning experts will review your courses to ensure they meet quality standards for online learning using checklists and evaluation rubrics. Based on our review, we provide enhancement recommendations.
Accessibility Review
Our accessibility-focused instructional designer reviews your Canvas course to ensure it meets accessibility standards. We help redesign your learning activities to be inclusive and accessible for all students with diverse needs.
Interactive Activities
Our team work with faculty to create interactive online learning activities using authoring tools like Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, and H5P. Examples include interactive videos with quizzes, branching scenario games, interactive presentation slides, 360 virtual tours, drag and drop activities, crossword puzzles, and more.
Training
We offer customized training on Canvas and instructional design topics. We train faculty on how to use basic Canvas features, design learner-friendly online environments, and apply the standardized K-State Canvas course template. You can also request customized presentations on instructional design topics tailored for your department’s needs.
Online Course Design Institute
The Online Course Design Institute (OCDI) is an asynchronous online experience for K-State instructors who are currently teaching or plan to develop an online course in the next year. We plan to offer the OCDI each term. For more information, please visit the OCDI page.

Collaborative Course Design

To collaborate smoothly on your course design project, we’d appreciate some key information from you. This allows us to better tailor our support and create a seamless design process together.

  • Course information: To help us support you effectively, please share details about your intended learners, course goals or topics, and course duration information during our initial conversations. This will allow us to better understand your needs and collaborate efficiently.
  • Timeline: To ensure a smooth design process, we’d appreciate knowing when the course or activities need to be developed. Project timelines can vary. While a course quality or assessment review may take about a week, designing interactive activities could take several weeks. Sharing your timeline in advance helps us plan and support you effectively.
  • Content expertise: We value and respect your expertise! Our team will take care of the technical and pedagogical aspects of course design so that you can focus on your content.
