Opportunities to become a peer mentor
The DASSA’s Peer Mentoring program aims to cultivate meaningful connections among students and to foster a sense of belonging through the development of critical thinking and communication skills. This initiative focuses on developing educational and practical competencies, with the overarching goal of enhancing students' academic preparedness, career readiness, and mental well-being.
Requirements
- Confidence, good time management and good communication skills.
- Ability to listen to and understand others.
- Good academic standing.
- Be in at least their second year of college at K-State.
- Commitment to serve as a Peer Mentor.
Expectations
- Mentor responsibility for a group of 8-10 students.
- Facilitate 1 group session per week for 16 weeks.
- Conduct weekly one-on-one interactions with group members.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports.
- Attend workshops and training as required.
A Peer Mentor is an experienced student who guides a new student through their academic journey by having intentional interactions with them based on academic support content.
