Tools and Resources

To help you on your K-State Journey, we have hubbed helpful advising related tools that you may need based on topic:

Degree progression and enrollment:

  • Academic degree maps: Academic degree maps are semester-by-semester guides designed to help students complete their degrees within four years. Students should work with their academic advisors if they have completed college courses previously to create a personalized plan that fits their academic journey.
  • Course catalog: provides course descriptions, degree expectations, and academic policies.
  • Course schedule: is published every semester with details of courses that will be offered.

  • How to check information on holds: holds can be placed on your account that prohibit enrollment. It is best to try and resolve these before your enrollment date.
  • Enrollment dates: each student is given a specific date and time for enrollment which is based on the number of credit hours the student has completed.

Technology:

  • Navigate Student is a free app designed for you. Use Navigate Student to connect with faculty and study partners, schedule appointments, access campus resources, stay on track to graduation, and more! You can download the app from your app store.
  • Academic Planner allows you to map a plan of which classes you will take each semester you are enrolled at K-State.The Academic Planner function of Navigate is accessible only through the desktop version of Navigate.

Placement exams:

  • Modern Languages: Students who have had previous language training in high school, at home, or through living abroad should take the department's placement examination. It generally takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete, and may be taken at any time during the LLC's regular hours of operation.

  • The transfer equivalency tool gives guidance how courses from other insititutions may transfer to K-State.
  • K-State 8 is our general education program and is comprised of a depth and breadth of knowledge and skills.
  • DARS reports are an individualized analysis of a student's academic progress toward a specified degree. These can help you understand which degree requirements you have met and which still need to be completed.
  • Graduation checklist is comphrensive list of items that graduating seniors will need to complete.
