How to use Navigate
Looking for support using Navigate? We are here to help! Each feature below has some helpful tools and answers to common questions!
Academic Planner
The Academic Planner allows you to map a plan of which classes you will take each semester you are enrolled at K-State. You can plan for your major, and also include classes for double majors or minors. The Academic Planner function of Navigate is accessible only through the desktop version of Navigate.

Appointment Scheduling
You can easily schedule meetings with your academic advisor, academic coach, or tutor with Navigate.
How to schedule appointments?
Clicking on appointments will give you a list of options for different services around campus. Choose a type of appointment, a reason, and a service; then you’ll choose a location and a person you’d like to meet with; then, finally, a time you’d like to meet.
No times are showing up. Why?
Make sure to check several days into the future in case they are just out of available times this week. If there are still no times available, please contact the advisor directly to ask about availability. It is possible your advisor has not adopted Navigate for appointments and your inquiry may encourage them to begin!
Navigate Student App
Navigate Student is a free app designed for you. Use Navigate Student to connect with faculty and study partners, schedule appointments, access campus resources, stay on track to graduation, and more!
Download the app
- Search Navigate Student in your app store and download.
- Select Kansas State University.
- Log in.
Set your notifications (pdf)
- Open the app and go to your settings
- Select notification settings
- Decide how you want to receive messages.
Study Buddies
Study Buddies lets students connect with other students in their class sections who are interested in studying together outside of class. This feature works in both the mobile app as well as the desktop version.

Progress Reports
Through Progress Reports, or early alerts, K-State faculty indicate whether a student is in need of additional support to complete the course successfully. The Progress Report alerts are in week 5 of the semester and apply to only full semester courses for undergraduates, 4th and 5th year APDesign students, and concurrent degree students. This effort is university-wide and is designed to help students connect to resources when they can make the biggest difference!
What information is used to inform students progress?
When filling out progress reports, faculty use what they have observed in their classes. This could include course attendance, participation, assignments, and/or exams. What is most important to note is that these data points can change quickly, so when you receive a communication related to a Progress Report, it is possible you have already made adjustments to improve your performance.
How can I check my progress reports?
All students can easily check their progress reports through Navigate with a few simple steps:
- Log into Navigate
- Select My Docs in the left hand navigation menu
- Choose progress reports
I have a progress report, now what?
Now you have an opportunity to get connected! Remember, one of the main reasons the university uses progress reports is to give you enough time to make a change in how you approach your learning- whether it be a major change or just small adjustments. You will receive an email with an action to take, and that is usually the best place to start. General resources to use include:

- Student Support and Accountability
"I Need Help" Self-Alerts
"I Need Help" Self-Alerts allow students a way to request information about non-emergency resources related to academic success, financial well-being, or personal well-being. Clicking the "I Need Help" icon in the Navigate app will submit an alert visible to appropriate advisors and staff so they know you are interested in more information. Students will receive an automated email with some initial information, and then a staff member will reach out to discuss the request within two business days.
The "I Need Help" functionality is not intended for emergency situations. Please see the handout and short video below for more information.
