Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Science and Technology
B.A. or B.S. in geographic information science and technology
Geographic information science underpins the use of geospatial technologies and methods, including geographic information systems (GIS), acquisition and analysis of remotely-sensed imagery, cartography and visualization, and spatial analysis and modeling. Majors develop technical competencies in quantitative analyses, programming and mapping. The combination of these technical skills with critical thinking positions students well for careers that address today’s most pressing social and environmental issues.
The K-State difference
Few major universities offer a bachelor’s degree in geographic information science and technology. K-State’s program competes with other regional universities because of its interdisciplinary design, STEM focus, ability to respond to rapid technological development and emphasis on 21st century workforce development.
Majors are eligible to receive a number of awards through the Department of Geography and Geospatial Sciences, including the H.L. “Sy” Seyler Undergraduate GIScience Scholarship and Steve Kale Undergraduate Research Fellowship.
