Detailed requirements for international students
If you are a not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you should apply as an international student.
Incoming freshmen
We welcome applications from students in the final year of secondary or high school, or after completion of secondary/high school.
General academic requirements for incoming freshmen
- High school curriculum from an accredited secondary school.
- Minimum 2.5 GPA (Grade Point Average) on a 4.0 scale in high school coursework.
- Learn about English proficiency and additional academic requirements for selective programs.
Transcripts
If you are admitted in your final year of school, we will need your final transcript when you arrive at K-State.

Transfer
Applicants who have completed 24 credit hours or more of collegiate-level coursework are considered transfer students. If you have not completed 24 credit hours, you will be considered a non-transfer applicant.
General academic requirements for transfers
- Completed high school degree
- 24 credit hours completed at a collegiate level
- 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale on college or university transcripts

Transfer credit process
If you have attended a U.S. university or college you can begin the transfer credit evaluation now!
- Search for your institution on our transfer equivalency website.
- If you can't find your institution or specific course, send a copy of your class syllabus to transferevaluation@k-state.edu. You can even do this before you are admitted!
Transcript submission
- Transfer students are not required to submit secondary/high school transcripts.
- Transcripts must be submitted for any and all previous university, college, vocational, community college, or technical coursework beyond the secondary level.

English proficiency
Proof of English proficiency is not required for admission to most Kansas State University Undergraduate degree programs. Admissions decisions are made on the academic qualifications of the applicant. However, a few selective programs have different standards, see below.

College of Architecture, Planning and Design
- Requires English proficiency,
- minimum GPA of 3.0 recommended,
- submission of ACT or SAT scores are strongly encouraged.

Additional academic requirements for selective programs for transfer students
Athletic Training in the College of Health and Human Sciences
- Must have a cumulative college/university GPA of 2.75,
- students with a 2.0 to 2.74 GPA are eligible for admission to the Human Ecology undeclared major.

Health professions options
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Completing Pre-Health prerequisites prepares students for health professional schools. It does not result in the completion of a degree, with the exception of Clinical Lab Science.
