Garden City, KS
Interior design major, French minor
Why she chose K-State:

As soon as I saw campus, I fell in love. As an interior design major, I adore the architectural elements and how all the buildings match. I met different faculty members and current students who are all in love with the university and I was sold. I knew this would be my home, even after touring other colleges. I also appreciate the interior design program’s focus on people, not just design.

How she transitioned to K-State:

I have lived in one place my entire life. Fort Collins is an eight-hour drive, so I am not able to quickly get home. When I moved to Manhattan, I brought everything I would need. My roommate is from Manhattan and showed me the best places to eat and shop, as well as local favorites.

Why he loves being involved:

I’m involved at K-State because I want to give back to the community. That’s how you meet new people, and it’s why I am in H.A.L.O., SHPE, ELI program and the Cargill program. I’m also a residential learning assistant because that helps me be better. I’ve gained a lot of leadership skills being in those clubs.

Advice for new Wildcats:

Join clubs and try different activities. Attend the many free events (usually with food) available. Invite people from your dorm to attend with you. College is the time to figure out what you like without social pressure to fit in to a specific mold. Anything you choose to be a part of will give you friends instantly. Everywhere I go, I see familiar faces who I can ask for help. My sorority sisters give me life advice, friends to eat with and rides to the airport. Ask for people’s contact information, whether it’s their phone number, Snapchat or Instagram handle. You never know when you may need their help in a class or want someone to hang out with!
