Ground skink - Scincella lateralis

• 3-5 inches total length
• Found in leaf litter of forests and grassy areas
• Active during day
• Feed on small arthropods and earthworms

• The individual at left has lost it's tail recently and is just beginning to regrow it.

Interesting fact:

• Adult ground skinks are not much larger that hatchling Great Plains skinks
