  • 42-72 inches total length
  • Found in forested areas
  • Active during day when cool, at night when hot
  • Feed on rodents, rabbits, birds, bird eggs, frogs and lizards

Interesting fact:

  • Black rat snakes are excellent climbers and have adaptations that allow them to climb straight up rough vertical surfaces. This allows them to more easily prey on bird nests.
