Embedded tutor option

Tutoring Services are offered through the Academic Achievement Center and are free to all K-State students currently enrolled in courses. Peer tutors help facilitate the learning process outside of a formal classroom structure and tutoring focuses on the success of the learning process as a whole. They are a vital part to many K-State students’ academic careers as they assist students to succeed academically. Peer tutors are needed for a variety of courses and one tutor may hold several tutoring sessions a week in a variety of courses.

Tutoring in BIOL198:

Many of our practicum students also choose to become tutors. This means that you will be tutoring students who are enrolled in the course at the same time you are also teaching (though you may tutor students from sections other than your own).

Tutoring means that:

  • you will be required to attend tutor training sessions (there aren't a lot of hours involved in the training and you get paid for those hours).
  • you will need to have some number of hours set aside each week during the semester to meet with the students you are tutoring, but the number of hours and schedule are up to you.
  • you will initially earn about $9 per hour of tutoring, with structured raises as training is completed.
