Biomanufacturing Laboratory and Training Facilities
INNOVATIVE SPACES
With support from federal and state funding, K-State is implementing four world-class facilities across the Manhattan campus to advance health and biosecurity.
Biologics Development Module at the Biosecurity Research Institute
Research and development and pilot production
- Supports corporate partners in advancing diagnostics, prophylactics and therapeutic countermeasures for combating infectious animal diseases.
- Focuses on zoonotic and foreign animal diseases that threaten animal agriculture, the food supply and human health.
Biomanufacturing Core and Training Facility
Production and training
- Supports corporate partners in advancing diagnostics, prophylactics and therapeutic countermeasures for combating infectious animal diseases.
- Supports biomanufacturing of multiple products.
Biologics Development Module at the College of Veterinary Medicine
Research and development
- Specializes in advanced cell culture techniques and the lyophilization of protein and viral antigens, capabilities essential for large-scale biologics production and extending the shelf life of critical biological materials.
- Expertise includes protein purification and adjuvant production, both crucial for creating effective biopharmaceuticals and enhancing vaccine efficacy. These processes support the development of high-purity proteins and potent immunotherapies.
Biomanufacturing Laboratory and Training Facility
Training
- Located in Seaton Hall, the center is a cutting-edge facility featuring advanced biomanufacturing lab equipment, designed to support hands-on training in biomanufacturing production and complementary analytical techniques.
- The space and courses aim to create a strong pipeline of talent for the growing biomanufacturing industry in Kansas and beyond by offering students practical training and skills, while also fostering collaborative relationships between K-State and industry stakeholders.
