Career Center Practicum and Project Opportunities

The Career Center hosts practicum and individualized learning projects for undergraduate and graduate students (typically counseling and student development). The following options are available to qualified students.

Learning Experience Option 1:

Past experiences have included the opportunity to:

  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students for resume development and cover letters
  • Shadow Career Center advisors
  • Perform drop-in interdisciplinary one-on-one advising
  • Learn about Career Center operations and staff roles
  • Participate on the Career Center advising team
  • Develop and implement programs
  • Assist at Career Center events
  • Complete projects based on student interests and office needs

Expectations

  • Some availability during regular office hours
  • Adhere to an agreed upon schedule with some flexibility
  • Interest in pursuing career opportunities in career services or related field

Learning Experience Option 2:

Past experiences have included the opportunity to:

  • Initiate career assessments in one-on-one advising sessions
  • Co-teach EDCEP 120 (a one credit-hour career planning class)
  • Attend in-depth training for advising and career assessments
  • Learn about Career Center roles and programs
  • Complete projects specific to student and center-wide needs/interests

Expectations

  • Adhere to an agreed upon schedule with some flexibility
  • Interest in pursuing career opportunities in career services or related field

Learning Experience Option 3:

  • Learn about Career Center roles and programs
  • Complete projects specific to student and center-wide needs/interests

Expectations

  • May be possible to complete in-person, remotely or hybrid
  • May be completed during the summer
  • Adhere to an agreed upon schedule with some flexibility
  • Interest in pursuing career opportunities in career services or related field
