Brewster is a small, rural community halfway between Colby and Goodland in Northwest Kansas. We are a mile north of I-70 which will link you up to eastern Kansas or Colorado. We are approximately three hours from Denver and Colorado Springs to the west. We are a 1A school for classifications purposes. We have a strong tradition of excellence both inside and outside the classrooms. We have a grocery store and bank in town for conveniences. We are also home to S & T Communications, the telecommunications provider for much of northwest Kansas.

Brewster operates on a four-day week schedule, Monday through Thursday. Friday is typically our off day. Teachers are contracted for 155 school days, and our salary schedule is competitive. Our teacher-contracted school day runs from 7:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.

Our staff is dedicated and experienced with a mix of new and seasoned teachers.

Academically, we offer our students all required core courses; Welding, Agriculture, FFA, STEM, Gardening, Strength Training and Art, and the complete offerings to allow for Kansas Regents Qualifications and Scholars. We also offer college dual credit courses for our juniors and seniors. Golden Plains, USD 316

Golden Plains USD 316 provides a quality education to approximately 150 students in northwest Kansas. Golden Plains operates two school buildings: Golden Plains Elementary (preschool - 5th) in Selden and Golden Plains Middle/High School (6th - 12th) in Rexford. Little Paws Daycare in Selden is also operated by the school district.

Golden Plains has a welcoming and accepting environment where students from diverse backgrounds find encouragement and belonging. We pride ourselves on having high academic standards for all students. Our committed and experienced staff is currently working with Kansas MTSS. We have full implementation of MTSS reading and behavior social emotional learning (BSEL) support and a plan for implementation of math.

Graham County USD #281 in Hill City, Kansas is located in northwest Kansas at the junction of US Hwy 283 and US Hwy 24. The district has two attendance centers; Hill City Junior Senior High housing students in grades 7-12 and Hill City Grade housing students PK-6. The enrollment of the district is approximately 380 students. Student to teacher ratio is low, averaging 12-16 students in a classroom. Hill City Junior-Senior High has many active clubs and organizations as well as programs in band, choir, art and FFA. HCJSHS students compete in most activities sponsored by the KSHSAA.. The district underwent a facelift in 2015 with the addition of a new state-of-the-art 8 lane track including new concessions and restroom building, immaculate renovation of the auditorium, new HVAC systems at both facilities, Parking lots and renovation of the Grade School playground along with other upgrades. USD 281 recently launched a technology improvement program and has added interactive boards to all elementary and many Jr-Sr high classrooms. Students in the district all have an individual laptop assigned to them, making us 1-1 district wide. Current Incentives for teacher candidates: $10 000 sign on bonus through the Graham County Workforce Board. The bonus will be paid in three payments $3 000 in August $3 000 in December and $4 000 in June. To receive the full amount the applicant has to move into Graham County. Oakley Public Schools is situated in the northeast corner of Logan County at the crossroads of Interstate 70, Highway 83 and Highway 40. Our community is actively engaged with our schools and our schools are actively engage in our community. We have multiple engagements between students and community throughout the year. Some of our best include a community movie theater that is run entirely by our high school students, and a Future Philanthropists Program that raises funds for initiatives that others need throughout the community. We have had students compete in national academic contests including having the National Champions of the Kid Wind Challenge for middle schools students last year.

We have approximately 400 students enrolled each year in our K-12 student population. We keep our student to teacher ratios intentionally low so we can provide the best for our kids. In a recent survey, all but 2 staff members would recommend Oakley to their friends with students. Those 2 were neutral on the topic. It is a great community in which to live and work.
