Centre USD 397 consists of 400 square miles nestled on the western fringe of the Flint Hills of Kansas. A P-12 attendance center is located on a 25-acre tract in the countryside two miles north of Lincolnville. A new daycare opened onsite January 2024. Most of the district patrons are involved in farming and ranching or services that are related to the agricultural business community. More than 95% of the students reside over 2.5 miles from the attendance center and utilize district bus service from the communities of Lincolnville, Lost Springs, Burdick, Ramona, Pilsen and Tampa.

Centre is a technology rich district. All students work in a 1:1 environment with Apple products for all grade levels. Great Bend community is a small town atmosphere that has amenities of a larger town. We still have the hometown football game atmosphere where everyone wants to go to the game. You see your neighbors around town and we have a thriving downtown with local shops and stores. But Great Bend is also large enough to have some of the stores you would want to see in a larger setting. From starbucks to scooters, and restaurants of all varieties.

The schools are neighborhood schools for grades K-6. Two classes per grade level and most of our students walk to school. The parents know their schools and value their teachers. GBMS is 7-8 grade and set up on a core system with teams of teachers. GBHS is a 5A school that is large enough to have a lot of opportunities for students, whatever their interest, but small enough to still have class sizes of 18-20. We have very low class sizes for our size of district, average class size being less than 20 students.

Halstead-Bentley, USD 440

USD #440 is comprised of two small towns, Halstead and Bentley. Bentley is home to Bentley Primary School, servicing grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Halstead is home to Halstead Middle School, grades 4th through 8th, and Halstead High School, grades 9th through 12th.

USD #440 is a 3A district with approximately 810 students. The district prides itself in providing all of the benefits of a small district feel with large district opportunities. We are a 1:1 district with apple products. Students utilize iPads and staff have iPads, MacBooks, Apple TV's, and access to apple pencils for the classroom. Staff members have been recognized as Apple Distinguished Educators, and the district works in partnership with Apple to train staff members on effective use and implementation of technology. Students at Halstead High School have access to a number of Vocational opportunities where the district is proud to offer 14 different CTE Pathways.

There is a strong emphasis on Social and Emotional Supports where USD #440 partners directly with Prairie View Behavioral Health to have a case manager and licensed therapist on site to provide services for students and families.

Halstead-Bentley Schools has had a history of academic excellence with two recent graduates earning Rudd Scholarships equating to full ride scholarships. An investment into STEM instruction has been an emphasis early in the district where there is a full time STEM teacher staffed at Bentley Primary School. The district recently invested heavily into the science of reading and had over 70 teachers, para educators, principals, and district office staff members received training in LETRS. The district adopted K-12 curriculum that is aligned and supported by the science of reading.

Halstead High School is also known for its achievement outside of the classroom. The school currently has 17 athletic state championships and 5 in debate. The support for athletics and activities accomplishments is celebrated and supported by both community members and alumni.

The communities recently showed their value in our schools by passing a $28.5 million school bond in May of 2024. This bond was the largest in the state with a mill increase and third largest bond passed in the 2023-2024 school year. There will be an addition added to Bentley Primary School with a safe and secure entrance, new cafeteria, new playground, new admin and support staff offices and 85% of the building will receive upgrades. Halstead Middle School will benefit from the addition of an early childhood center, expansion/renovation to the kitchen and lunchroom, and a new athletic entrance. Halstead High School will find itself with a newly remodeled state of the art auditorium/performance center, safe and secure entryway, new junior high classes, new mechanical systems, and new baseball softball fields with state of the art synthetic turf.

Halstead is a city of approximately 2000 people located in south central Kansas. Wichita is located about 25 minutes away, Hutchinson is located about 23 miles away, and Newton is roughly 10 miles away. Halstead has a golf course, swimming pool, downtown businesses, and beautiful parks. The town of Bentley located 8 miles south of Halstead in Sedgwick County. Hoisington is a district with a 1:1 technology plan and community support for the district. This is evidenced by the recent construction of a new building for Lincoln Elementary and security upgrades throughout the district. Pratt Unified School District 382 is a 4A district located in the heart of south central Kansas. Home to almost 7,000 citizens, Pratt is 75 miles west of Wichita and 55 miles southwest of Hutchinson.

Upon the completion of bond construction projects, USD 382 will have the following four main education buildings: Southwest Elementary, a PreK-3 building; Pratt Intermediate Center with grades 4 & 5 and housed at the Pratt Academic Center; Liberty Middle School, a 6-8 building; and Pratt High School, a 9-12 building. Winfield is a beautiful community located approximately 40 miles southeast of Wichita in Cowley County. The population is 12,000 and the district enrolls 2,000 students from Pre-K to 12th grade.

With a birth to grade 12 focus, the district starts by providing daycare for employees' children at two of the elementary buildings, which run at capacity and have always had a waiting list. The Winfield Early Learning Center and the Cumbernauld Age-to-Age classroom are buildings for our 3 and 4 year old pre-school children. Four elementary buildings host grades K-5 with average class sizes just above 20. Winfield Middle School and High School are separate buildings but share many pathways, teachers, and athletic facilities.
