Animal Model/Pathology Core
CEZID’s Animal Model/Pathology (AMP) Core utilizes animal facilities available at KSU to provide personalized, project-specific support and expertise to facilitate the use of animal models and pathological services. The assistance provided by AMP Core staff includes help in designing animal studies, assistance with preparation and approval of IACUC protocols, and providing antibody production and laser capture microdissection services.
The AMP Core will produce hyper-immune sera in rabbits for the development of diagnostic tests essential to COBRE research projects. Hybridoma production is also available for PIs.
In addition, the CEZID AMP Core’s existing infrastructure includes a laser capture microdissection instrument, the Laser Capture Microdissection System (LCM). The LCM has advanced laser microdissection capabilities to facilitate DNA, RNA, and protein isolation from single cells or precise regions of interest from fixed tissue slides with both bright field and fluorescent microscopy capabilities. Recently, we have updated the LCM system with the capability to conduct live-cell research. The AMP Core also has a dedicated training budget that can be used to fund the troubleshooting of new experiments.
