Justin Green | Director of Debate

Justin has over 20 years of experience in competitive debate. As a four year debater at Wake Forest he won the Kentucky Round Robin, UMKC, and North Carolina tournaments and reached the elimination rounds of every major college tournament. He spent the past two years as the Director of Debate at Georgetown where his teams reached elimination rounds at numerous national tournaments including the NDT. His teams have won the Texas High School Championship and finished 5th in the country both in sweepstakes and at CEDA nationals. Justin has taught at several debate institutes including the Wake Forest Debate Workshop, The Towson International Debate Institute, Baltimore Urban Debate League Workshop, Houston Urban Debate League Workshop, the Washington D.C. Urban Debate League Debate Institue and the World Debate Institute at the University of Vermont. Justin has also been a guest lecturer at the Catholic University of America Capital Classic Debate Instittue. Justin believes "winning is fun, but it's not why we dedicate so much time, energy and emotion. We do that because we love debate and the people in it."

Sarah Green | Assistant Director

Sarah began debating in college with no high school experience at the University of Vermont. In her four year debate career Sarah advanced to elimination rounds at several national tournaments, including becoming the first team comrpised of two debaters with no high school experience to clear at the NDT, won the District 8 tournament, was a CEDA All-American for three years, and was named the Eastern United States Debater of the year in 2000. After graduation, Sarah went on the coach the University of Rochester debate team to a CEDA and NDT Sweepstakes title, the JV national championship in 2002 and qualifying two teams to the NDT in the University’s first appearance at the NDT. Sarah, took three years out of collegiate debate to found and direct the Washington, D.C. Urban Debate League, providing opportunities for students at 14 inner city schools in the District of Columbia to participate in debate. Sarah has taught at several summer institutes including Emory University, The Catholic University of America, The Towson International Debate Institute and the World Debate Institute at the University of Vermont. Sarah also directed the District of Columbia Debate Institute for four years.

Cade Hamilton | Assistant Director

With 10 years of debate experience, Cade offers a hard-work, fun-loving approach. Prior to arriving at Kansas State, Cade coached at Johnson County Community College. During his year there, JCCC won first place Community College Sweepstakes and Community College Nationals. Cade got his Master's Degree in Communication from Wichita State University where he coached for 2 years. While debating at the University of North Texas, Cade reached the elimination rounds at the Cross Examination Debate Association Nationals. On a coaching day, expect to find Cade listening to practice speeches or researching policy arguments.

Joe Koehle | Graduate Teaching Assistant

Joe debated for 5 years in college at West Georgia and Pittsburgh Universities. He spent the 2008-10 years coaching collegiate debate. A former Cathedral Prep High School star at both the local and Tournament of Champions Level. Joe carried this high school success into many outround experiences including the outrounds at CEDA, the NDT, and nearly every major college National Tournament. Adept at coaching any argument - Joe is an asset any program in the country would wish to have.

Nick Burr | Graduate Teaching Assistant

Nick debated for Trinity University for 4 years where he advanced to the elimination rounds of the National Debate Tournament in 2009, finished in finals at the Baylor University Tournament and reached elimination rounds at numerous other tournaments. Before coming to Kansas State, he served as an Assistant coach at Trinity University whose teams again reached elimination rounds at the NDT. He also has extensive experience as a high school coach and judge in the Austin and Dallas area. Nick has great strategic flexibility and is by far the most popular member of the Kansas State Debate team.
