In this session, we will cover two common scenarios faced by members of historically underrepresented groups. We will review strategies for being an ally in those scenarios, practice being an ally, and reflect on the effectiveness of the strategies.

Chardie Baird is the Executive Director of the Kansas State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering (KAWSE), Spainhour Family Chair, and Professor of Sociology. She is an expert in gender inequality/inequity in work in the labor force and home. She is invited to speak about a wide range of inequality/inequity topics ranging from allyship to strategies for discussing inclusion to broad audiences, including economists, political scientists, public administrators, individuals in the energy & transportation industries, individuals working in athletics, and students through administrators in STEM.
