Free Speech and Expressive Activity
At K-State, we embrace our responsibility to foster free expression through a constructive, robust exchange of ideals that bring us all ever closer to understanding the totality of the human condition.
Always choosing to learn from each other — because we are stronger together.
At K-State, we value civil discourse and constructive dialogue because we value the different perspectives that enrich and deepen our conversations and learning environments. Our university community — and the global society we live in — are both the sum of many individuals with unique perspectives, viewpoints and experiences. We won't always agree with each other, and we won't always understand how others perceive the world. But the one thing that undeniably binds us all together is our humanity.
Treating each other with dignity and engaging safely and respectfully around polarizing topics is a skill that serves anyone well in today's world. And providing space for those conversations is something that higher education institutions are often called to do as the natural conveners of thousands of perspectives and viewpoints.
We invite you to explore the policies, guidelines, resources and engagement opportunities available to you as you navigate the different perspectives and viewpoints you will encounter.
