Policies and Guidance

To ensure free expression rights for all university community members, K-State maintains several policies and guidelines for safe and respectful discourse of ideals on our campuses. We encourage all to review the policies aggregated below.

Freedom of speech is a right protected by the First Amendment, rooted in a simple concept but much more complex in today's society. So, what exactly is free speech? Does that include hate speech? And where can speech cross the line and become discrimination and harassment?

K-State's Student Code of Conduct is designed to support a constructive learning environment and a university community that prioritizes your safety and well-being. Learn more about the Student Code of Conduct, how its applied and how it is led by the K-State Student Governing Association.
K-State's goal is to create a safe, healthy and impactful student organization experience. The Student Organization Conduct Code outlines how conduct within recognized student organizations, or RSOs, as defined in PPM 8540, is addressed and adjudicated.

Kansas State University is committed to maintaining academic, housing, and work environments that are free of discrimination, harassment, and sexual harassment.

Principles of Community

We encourage all of our community members to become familiar with our Principles of Community, a guiding light for how we foster a culture of respect as we engage and interact within the university community.
