Cassou is a Professor of Economics. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Applied Mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota. Cassou has taught at the State University of New York in Stony Brook and Oberlin College and has been a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and a visiting professor at Universidad del Pais Vasco.
Cassou's research interests lie in macroeconomics and public finance with a concentration on fiscal policy issues. His work has appeared in journals such as The Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Canadian Journal of Economics, Journal of Public Economic Theory, Journal of Human Resources, Economic Inquiry, Economic Theory, Applied Economics, Economics Letters, and Economic Modeling as well as in several books.
