Certificate of Proficiency in English for Academic Purposes
This undergraduate certificate provides official recognition for those whose primary language is not English and who demonstrate the English proficiency needed for academic work at the university level through their studies in the English Language Program. This corresponds to a B2: Independent User level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Any combination of online or in-person classes may be used to meet the certificate course requirements.
Admission Requirements
Students must meet ELP placement standards in order to enroll in courses required for the certificate.
These prerequisites may be met by scores on the WildCAT English Proficiency Test, by a standardized test score recognized by K-State , or by successful completion of Intermediate English classes (DAS 150 Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking) in the English Language Program at Kansas State University.
