Welcome to Kansas State University!

Congratulations on starting a new chapter in your academic and professional journey.

The U.S. Department of State and the Institute of International Education (IIE), along with Kansas State University welcome you to Kansas, the 34^th state to join the Union now known as the United States. We hope you will enjoy this three day workshop.

During your time in Kansas, we will present and discuss issues to enhance understanding of U.S. culture, especially as evidenced in social movements for change. Additionally, we will provide tools for handling challenges as a graduate student in the U.S. Many issues which arise for international graduate students can be managed with prior preparation. We hope you will take away useful information to ease your transition and enhance your confidence.

Pre-Arrival Task - Signature needed:

This link (pdf) leads to a document that all visiting groups are required to sign as acknowledgement of university policies. The Fulbright Participant Agreement, Assumption of Risk, and Release form (pdf) will be given to you for signature at registration when your airport shuttle bus arrives in Manhattan.

Please take some time now to read and understand the document.

Arrival Information:

Shuttle buses will collect participants at the Kansas City International Airport on Thursday October 31 at staggered times. Shuttle buses will depart at approximately 10:00am, 12:15pm, 2:00pm, 3:20pm.

Flight information screens will display welcome information for our group.

There are two terminals for arriving flights.

Mentors and Buses:

You will be assigned to a 2nd year mentor during the program. Your mentor will provide any assistance you need at the program, as well as being a valuable source of information. You will check in with your mentor each time you board your assigned bus. You will be on the same bus for the entire program.

For example, Blue A means you are on the Blue bus with mentor for group A. By staying with your mentor and bus, you will be sure to never be left behind!

Housing and Food:

During your time in Manhattan, you will stay at The Four Points by Sheraton Hotel.

All catered food is halal for this event. We also have a Vegetarian option. If you notified us of dietary issues, there will be a sticker on your name tag and there will be a small “table tent” in your name tag holder to place in front of your plate to help servers find you more easily.

Dress Information:

During the conference, we ask that you wear business-casual attire. Snow is expected with freezing temperatures. Please dress Warmly!
