My earliest K-State memory was being accepted into the Multicultural Academic Program Success, or MAPS, before my freshman year. This program prepared me for the campus environment, classes and meeting new friends before the semester started.

Why did you choose K-State?

The reason I chose K-State was because of the endless opportunities. I was fortunate enough to attend K-State with many scholarships. K-State alumni are very generous with their donations and that's how I was able to afford college. The K-State culture, people and support helped me feel like I belonged and that they would help me succeed no matter what challenges I faced.

How are you involved at K-State?

I'm currently the treasurer for Multicultural Business Student Association. I'm also a Business Ambassador and K-State Student Union Ambassador residence life lead. On top of that, I'm a member of the Vietnamese Student Association and Tri Alpha. I'm currently working as an office assistant for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in the College of Business Administration. I served as the last treasurer for Student Governing Association last year before that role changed.

What has been your favorite K-State experience?

My favorite K-State experience has to be attending the activity carnival with friends during the first week of class. I got exposed to hundreds of clubs and organizations on campus at the same time. Also, there was a lot of free stuff they gave away. I felt that was one of the best events I went to and I got to meet many great people who soon later became my friends.

How does K-State care for Kansans in your hometown community?

K-State cares for Kansans in my hometown community through many programs. For example, I heard about MAPS through the career center at my high school. Also, many of my friends who decided to attend junior colleges have similar bridge program options where they partner with K-State to make the transfer process to a four-year college easier for them.

Why do you want to bring K-State to your community?

I want to bring K-State to my community because I know how much K-State cares about its students. When I was in high school I didn't think I could afford K-State, but the fact that I am currently in my senior year and have everything paid for through scholarships and grants is just surreal. I want to let my community know that everything is possible — don't let your fear stop you from chasing your dreams.
