Everyone is invited to attend this community event, where President Richard Linton and K-State students will host a dialogue about university and community connections and the student experience. A focus will be on the future of enhancing the successful partnerships and positive relationships with and between communities in the Crawford County region.

The Crawford County visit included additional activities with community leaders, organizations and partners throughout the day. There were community conversations, events to highlight university partnerships and K-State Research and Extension relationships, and recruitment activities.

Community services and partnerships to improve health outcomes in southeast Kansas Residents of southeast Kansas face the worst health outcomes in the state. The K-State team will join the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas to discuss the region and challenges facing residents of southeast Kansas, efforts to remove barriers to good health, workforce training and partnerships, including the K-State SNAP-Ed program for nutrition education. |
Students feeding students: How school-based container farms benefit students and support their communities Join a facilitated conversation to learn about Pittsburg High School's hydroponic farm project. Hear from school staff and students about the innovative operation and hear from a local PHS partner, Community Green Farms, on its farm-to-school initiative. Learn about resources and implementation ideas for container farm programs in other school districts and brainstorm possibilities with K-State leadership on how expand this innovative effort. |
Using community cooperation to advance economic prosperity Take part in a session that spotlights Block 22 — a unique public/private partnership among Pittsburg State University, the city of Pittsburg and developers to create a living-learning entrepreneurial center at 4th and Broadway streets in downtown Pittsburg. A panel of leaders from the Pittsburg project will be joined by K-State Research and Extension and NetWork Kansas representatives to discuss how collaboration can be a catalyst for positive community change and how higher education can better support community development. |
