K-State visited Ford County and Dodge City on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022. The visit included a day of activities to engage with, listen to and learn from Kansans in Dodge City and the Ford County region.

8:30-9:30 a.m.
Mariah Gallery, Boot Hill Museum
500 W. Wyatt Earp Blvd., Dodge City
Everyone is invited to attend this community event, where President Richard Linton and K-State students will host a dialogue about university and community connections and the student experience. A focus will be on the future of enhancing the successful partnerships and positive relationships with and between communities in the Ford County region.
6-7:45 p.m.
Registration starts at 6 p.m., program starts at 6:30 p.m.

The Ford County visit included additional activities with community leaders, organizations and partners throughout the day. There were community conversations, events to highlight partnerships and K-State Research and Extension relationships, and recruitment activities.

Listening and learning session: Preparing and supporting the local workforce Join a facilitated conversation about workforce needs in the community and strategies for meeting those needs. Learn from local industry, education and community stakeholders about efforts undertaken, in progress, or needed to better prepare and support workers and industry, families and community. |

Rattlesnake Creek watershed Participate in a conversation about water management partnerships in the Rattlesnake Creek watershed. Learn how farmers and WaterPACK, a grassroots organization, use K-State water management resources such as KANSched and Evapotranspiration Weather Stations. Hear from stakeholders, including the Nature Conservancy, K-State Research and Extension and the private sector. |

Listening and learning session: Preparing for and responding to disasters Take part in a discussion about the Ford County Office of Emergency Management and its collaborative efforts to prepare for and respond to emergency situations. The office partners with K-State Research and Extension and others to provide a coordinated effort to encourage emergency preparedness and respond to disasters. Learn about past efforts specific to tornado and wildfire response and what is needed to prepare for and support future efforts. |
