Community open forum Everyone is invited to attend this community event, where President Richard Linton and K-State students will host a dialogue about university and community connections and the student experience. Urban food systems Participate in a discussion surrounding urban food system issues and learn what K-State and others are doing to ensure a safe, equitable and efficient urban food system in Johnson and Wyandotte counties. This session will conclude with a tour of the WIC Community Garden. |
Postsecondary access and equity luncheon Join a gathering of high school leaders, college access providers and community and workforce professionals who share a common goal of supporting students in understanding postsecondary options. The luncheon will include a discussion around strengthening education and access partnerships as well as identifying strategies for building inclusive postsecondary pathways. |
Responding to industry needs in the Kansas City region Take part in a facilitated conversation about ways that higher education in the Kansas City metro area is partnering to meet the needs of industry. Learn from local industry, education and community stakeholders in the sectors of biomanufacturing, advanced manufacturing and supply chain logistics. |
Service project: Food insecurity The K-State team will volunteer with Harvesters Community Food Network to address food insecurity in the Greater Kansas City community. Volunteers will sort and repack food with the Volunteer Engagement Center, which is part of Harvesters’ mission to mobilize the power of community to create equitable food access. Harvesters is a regional food network serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. |
