Tosha Sampson-Choma specializes in African American literature and Women Writers of the African Diaspora. Her research focuses on Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, and Andrea Levy, among others. The courses she teaches include African American literature, Black Women Writers, Black American Social Movements and African American Women and Identity Formation. She has published in the College Language Association Journal (CLAJ) and in Toni Morrison on Mothers and Motherhood and is currently writing on 21st century immigrant novels. In 2016, she was a fellow in Columbia University’s Summer Teachers and Scholars Institute: "The Many Worlds of Black New York." She was awarded the College of Arts and Sciences’ Faculty Enhancement Award as well as the "Making A Difference Award" given by the Women in Engineering and Science Program. Messiah College, her alma mater, awarded her the "2017 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award." She is the current Book Review Editor for CLAJ. Although an academic, she spent many years working in residence life and in roles related to diversity initiatives.
