Student Success
The education our students receive prepares them to enter graduate or professional schools, or to embark on careers in a large and diverse collection of fields.
Paths to Success
We know preparing for a successful career requires a lot of work, and not just in the classroom. English students have many paths to a well-rounded education. You can:
- Take advantage of the department's career planning recommendations.
- Work with your advisor and attend joint workshops with K-State Career Services.
- Get involved in our student organizations such as Touchstone, our literary magazine, or Sigma Tau Delta, our honor society.
- Apply for English Department awards and scholarships.
- Try an on-campus or off-campus internship working with writers, editing publications, managing social media, or researching in archives.
Learn how our alumni have transferred their English experience to myriad career fields, such as technical and professional writing, editing and publishing, teaching, public relations, government, and many more.
Co-Learning
The Writing Center provides support to those in need of assistance, but also serves as a collaborative learning tool for students of all disciplines and experience levels.

Testimonials
I have no doubt that I will be prepared to handle anything that law school throws my way, thanks to everything I’ve learned through the LEAD Program and the English Department at Kansas State.
Makaela Stevens (BA ’22)
Entering an unexpected world like engineering may be outside most English majors’ comfort zones, but we are needed here and, as I had to learn, we are just right for these positions.
