Tanya González

Associate Professor

Department of English

Kansas State University

About Me:

I came to Kansas State University as an Assistant Professor in August, 2005 from Southern California where I was born and raised. I earned a B.A. in Literature from Scripps College, and an M.A. and PhD in English from the University of California, Riverside.

Both of my parents and all of my grandparents were born in Puerto Rico. However, my parents were mostly raised in the mainland United States, first in New York and then in Los Angeles, CA.

I teach courses in American Literature, Cultural Studies, Women’s Studies, and U.S. Latina/o Studies. My research is primarily in Chicana and U.S. Latina literature and culture.

I am the Web Jefa of the Latina/o Literature and Culture Association of the American Literature Association. See the Latin@ Rolodex link above for more information.

Here at K-State I am on the executive committee of Alianza, an active member of the AMETH and WOMST faculty, a member of Women of K-State, and I am also the faculty advisor for two student organizations: Lambda Theta Nu, AlphaXi chapter and the Student Organization for Cultural Studies.
