New FIS Reporting Tool
The Division of Financial Services and the Division of Information Technology implemented a new FIS reporting tool in October 2024. Our goal was to make this as seamless of a transition as possible for end-users familiar with the existing Discoverer reports.
Why did we replace Discoverer?
Oracle Discoverer has reached its end of life and will no longer be supported, posing a significant financial reporting risk to the University. As Oracle continues to update its Enterprise Business Suite product, Discoverer functionality may no longer work.
Will the new tool look and feel much like Discoverer?
Yes! That was one of our main goals in selecting a new tool. You will be able to retrieve the same data in a similar manner to running a Discoverer report but with additional functionality in the new tool that was not available in Discoverer.
Will we have access to the same reports that we had in Discoverer?
Yes, the vendor will be converting all our existing reports, and you will have access to the same reports you have access to in Discoverer. The only reports that will not be converted are custom reports that you have saved, where you may have tweaked the layout and saved it under your eID.
How do I access this new tool?
You will access it in the same manner that you access the current Discoverer reports. First, log in to FIS (https://fis.ksu.edu), select the "KSU FIS User" folder on the left-hand menu, and then select "Reports" to access the new reports. The Discoverer reports will be available until Monday, November 11 under a separate link titled "Reports - Discoverer".
What technology is used for this new tool?
We partnered with Insum, a company with many years of experience and expertise in converting Discoverer reports to a widely-used Oracle platform, APEX. Insum has converted all our reports and trained K-State IT and DFS staff.
