Research
Discovery and dissemination of new knowledge is the cornerstone of our mission and often involves fieldwork and interdisciplinary collaborative research with teams from K-State and other universities from across the world.
Examining the World through a Geographic Lens
The core areas of our faculty and student research are environmental assessment, landscape dynamics, population and culture, and rural places and sustainability. K-State geographers enjoy a strong national and international research reputation and collaborate frequently with scientists from across the K-State campus and at many international universities.
Our talented team of student researchers are successful competitors for prestigious national scholarships and awards by agencies including the National Science Foundation, NASA, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Defense, Conference of Latin American Geography, American Association of Geographers, and American Geographical Society.
The department also operates a several instructional and research laboratories, including a university core facility, that support learning and discovery.
