Office of Government Relations
The primary goal of our office is to generate the appropriate financial support to further our mission as the nation's first operational land-grant university.
The Office of Government Relations reports directly to the Kansas State University Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff Marshall Stewart. Daily interaction with elected and appointed officials and staff is an essential part of our office operation. Our effectiveness is based not only upon our knowledge of the structure and functions of the governmental entities, but also upon a keen awareness of the political culture and those involved in the political process.
Kansas State University’s long-standing policy and procedures state that official university governmental contacts will be made by faculty and staff through the Office of Government Relations. This provides the elected officials and staff one point of contact and one voice for the university. The Office of Government Relations represents K-State before committees of the Legislature and Congress; works in conjunction with external advocates of public higher education in Kansas and Washington, D.C.; and coordinates legislative activities on the K-State campus. The Office engages in advocacy efforts with Kansas legislators regarding issues and legislation.
