New Graduate Course and Curriculum
The Graduate School strongly suggests that faculty proposing a new graduate degree program or certificate meet with the Associate Dean of the Graduate School during the early stages of the proposal development, prior to submitting the proposal to the Graduate Council for approval. This meeting will help align the proposals with the required documents and procedures as well as to help identify any potential issues. This is especially important for interdisciplinary programs and certificates, as that process involves additional steps not outlined below.
New Program and Certificate* proposal best practices
Prior to submitting:
- Review Curriculog course and curriculum proposal processes and deadlines published by the Office of the Registrar.
- Review Appendix B: Best Practices for Successful Course and Curriculum Proposals
- Review approval timeline below to understand the earliest semester the proposal can be effective based on when the proposal reaches the Graduate School.
- Discuss proposal with Graduate School Associate Dean.
*New Graduate Certificates are complete once they have been approved by Faculty Senate and the Provost has been notified.
