University facilities

With three physical campuses and research facilities located throughout the state, K-State has a significant investment in infrastructure, totaling more than 11 million gross square feet of space. The university will soon undergo updates to its existing campus master plan, which was initially completed in 2012 and last updated in 2015. Since then, more than $350 million in new construction and renovations have been invested in non-athletic university facilities.

The 2015 campus master plan update included enhancements along the north campus corridor, known as the Edge Collaboration District. The Edge District represents a partnership between the university and the KSU Foundation to inspire industry collaboration along the northern edge of the Manhattan campus. It’s where industry, research and talent come together to produce meaningful innovations and real outcomes for Kansas and beyond. This collaboration has created numerous industry partnerships and more than $2 billion in current and planned infrastructure, and it aims to deliver $1.5 billion over the next 20 years to the region and support more than 5,000 new jobs.

Several exciting renovation projects are currently underway or in the planning process, including transformative upgrades to nearly 70 of the university’s portfolio of general classroom spaces. Recently completed construction projects include renovations to Hale Library ($93 million) after a 2018 fire, renovations to West Memorial Stadium to create a new Band Hall ($4.9 million), and an addition to McCain Auditorium ($6.3M). Student-focused projects include the renovated Derby Dining Center ($16 million), new Morris Family Multicultural Student Center ($6.3 million), new Earhart Hall ($9.1 million) residence hall on the Salina Campus, and the renovated Cats' Cupboard ($3 million) food pantry.
