Strategic Planning
Kansas State University is guided by its strategic plan, Next-Gen K-State, as well as the strategic plan adopted by the Kansas Board of Regents, Foresight 2020.
Next-Gen K-State Strategic Plan
In July 2022, Kansas State University embarked on an ambitious strategic planning process that engaged more than 10,000 members of the K-State community over the course of the year that followed — students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and community members lent their voices to the planning effort. The process has culminated in the development of our Next-Gen K-State Strategic Plan, which charts our path forward, driven by ambitious goals and a deep connection to our mission and vision.
Kansas Board of Regents Strategic Plan
In June 2020, the Kansas Board of Regents voted to adopt a new strategic plan for the state’s public higher education system, Building a Future. This new plan seeks to help the system better serve Kansas families, Kansas businesses and the state’s economic prosperity. The plan is based on three pillars:
- Pillar I: Helping Kansas families by ensuring that higher education remains affordable and accessible to Kansas.
- Pillar II: Supporting Kansas businesses by focusing on the advantages higher education can provide to businesses, with emphasis on developing a talent pipeline to meet the demands of employers and the state’s economy.
- Pillar III: Advancing economic prosperity by leveraging the capabilities and innovation of higher education to enhance the general economic prosperity of communities based on a local, regional and statewide basis.
