Data Governance

Upholding data integrity and quality

Data Governance

Data governance involves the principled management of data and related policies throughout its lifecycle, from acquisition to disposal. It establishes standards for data collection, storage, processing, and access permissions. At K-State, this governance supports key operations such as contacting prospective students, evaluating applicants, delivering services, soliciting donations, and meeting educational requirements.

Our approach focuses on improving data quality, protecting access, maintaining metadata, and documenting data policies. Adhering to federal regulations for accurate and timely data, we ensure informed decisions with the right data at the right time. This fosters transparency and trust, enabling faculty, staff, and management to rely on data for decision support, thereby enhancing university operations and educational goals.
