Bruce Chladny, Research Extension
Bruce Chladny is the County Extension Educator and a State Extension Specialist for Community Vitality programs for the Kansas State University Research and Extension office in Wyandotte County, KS. As a twenty-two-year employee of the University, he has served in a number of roles including a County based Horticulture Extension educator in both Wyandotte and Douglas Counties, County Extension Director in Wyandotte County, and his current assignment as a Community Vitality educator: to develop and implement a citizen volunteer initiative called the Master Community Facilitator Volunteer program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Commercial Horticulture from Purdue University and a Master of Science in Agriculture Economics from the University of Missouri.
Mr. Chladny is a current member and past Chair of the Kansas chapter of the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals, as well as the past chair of the Community Vitality Program Focus Team – the professional development component of Kansas State University Research and Extension system. His extensive work on board leadership training as well as facilitation training have earned him both individual and team awards at the local and national levels. He continues to hone his facilitation skills as he trains citizen volunteers in the art of facilitation focusing on the three models of Study Circles, Charrettes, and World Café.
